3. The school counselor serves as a leader as well as an effective team member working with teachers, administrators and other school personnel to make sure that each student succeeds.

Jeff Ream has a Master of Science in Educational Counseling and Pupil Personnel Services credential through the University of La Verne with a 4.0 GPA.

 

Jeff is a school counselor at North Tahoe High School in Tahoe City, CA. In his tenure, he has revamped the entire program, implemented district wide initiatives, overseen program implementation at all district high schools, and created many opportunities for students and families. Since his first year at NTHS, Jeff has helped increase first year college enrollment by over 23%. He is in charge of all student services at the school including academic, college, personal/social, and crisis counseling in addition to parent/stakeholder relations.

 

In May of 2012, Jeff began blogging as The Counseling Geek - a blog to help counselors use technology in their programs. This has created incredible opportunities for professional development and collaboration. A few projects include: School Counseling on Air, SC|CS - School Counselor Community Scholarships, and speaking at various conferences.

 

In August 2013, Jeff also was appointed to the California Association of School Counselors board as the technology chairperson.

 

In October 2015, Jeff was honored as one of two finalists for the CASC School Counselor of the Year award.
